Monitoring non standard file system using CCMS monitors

Hi All,

We are using hostagent services running at OS level for CCMS alerts. We have set up alerts for file systems as well and receiving the alerts fine.

But we are not able to set alerts on file systems which are not present by defualt under RZ20. Like for example: /usr/sap/trans

We are not able to see this filesystem in RZ20. So we can not assign autoreaction method for getting alerts. Please help

Thanks

Varun

Does the system itself (not the CCMS system) see the OS file system, under tx ST06?  Maybe even under the "Detail Analysis Menu".

Hi Billy,

No; all filesystems are not present under details of ST06

Thanks

Is it possible to remove the CCMS sapccm4x/sapccmsr software and install the SMD agent which, imo is a much easier to work with for monitoring.

If removal and upgrading isn't an option, are you on the latest release of sapccm4x/sapccmsr?

Hi Billy,

We are using saohostagent services and sapccm4x/sapccmsr service is not running. saphostagent patch beign used is 113.

Thanks

Hi All,

We tried different things but nothing helped. The major point we have noticed is about the mount points which I want to share here.

The fileysstems which are locally mounted on that server are visible under RZ20. But the filesystems which are under global zone (NFS mount on a different server using global zone). The filesystem is present under the same system and is being used; but is actually mounted using a different server. We do not have access to those global zone servers. Please advise if its possible to add those to RZ20 monitor.

One example is below

<global zone host> :/vol/<sid>_usr_sap_trans

                     165360436 140347900 25012536    85%    /usr/sap/trans

And in above detail; the <global zone host> is different from the host of the <sid>. So we can't see /usr/sap/trans under filesystem monitoring

Thanks

Can you install the SMD agent to the system and verify if that resolves the issue?

Support Packages and Patches - S" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.1" Entry by Component" Agents for managed systems DIAGNOSTICS AGENT 7.3

This should not impact your current CCMS.

Hi All,

The problem is finally solved now.

Under location /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe; there is a file host_profile. We made an entry to this file.

The line added is below

"SAPOSCOL_SHOWNFS = YES"

After adding this entry. We restarted saposcol with this path  /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saposcol -l pf=/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/host_profile

And after that it showed all the filesystems present on that server whether locally mounted or not.

Thanks

Hi Varun,

Please go through the below links to monitor file system

Hi Ashutosh,

Thanks for the link. Checked steps according to this link by creating oscolfile.txt and mentioning required filesystems under it. but it did not help. After that; we found below steps somewhere but it did not help as well

] Stop saposcol --> "saphostexec -stop"
[2] Stop sapstartstv -->
sapcontrol -nr <instance number> -function StopService

[3] Execute "cleanipc 99 remove"

[4] Recreating filesystem structure:

1) go to RZ20 and open the Operating System MTE.
2) click "Extras" -> "Active Maintenance Function"
3) Check the FileSystems MTE (ONLY)
4) Click Edit -> Nodes -> Delete
5) Select option 4 and then YES.

6) Acess RZ21 > (under section TOPOLOGY) select the option "Segment
Overview" > Display Overview > (click "Display/Change") > Select
the segment name "SAP_CCMS_<host>_<SID>_<system number>" > Click reset

Filesystems did not reappear after deleting and performing steps
