Hello Experts,

Kinldy let me know how much space will be occupied in ORAarch folder of Oracle database for an unarchiving operation of an MDM repository

Also let us know if we can delete those generated files after or should be back them up for reference

EX: Need to perform unarchiving operation of an 3GB repository, let me know the total size of the files generated in DB

Thanks a lot in advance

Regards,

Mahesh Babu

Hello Mahesh,

To predict the size of generation file would be difficult, may this post will help you understand,

Example:

created files by day (average) are 100 files (each files

20Mb by default)

so you will need:

100 x 20Mb = 2Gb => 3Gb

Always spare more space for archive directory, otherwise if

the directory

full the SAP system will stop responding

As for the deletion, there is no harm in deletion as the database backup should be completed prior to deletion. As these backup files would be helpful in case of system restore is required.

Hi Mahesh,

I assume ORAarch is the folder which stores information of all the operations performed.

Its size depends upon -

-> File size

-> Frequency of taking archives

-> Duration for which Archives are kept

-> Number and type of operation

-> Number of Repositories

Ideally it should be deleted for entries older than 2 weeks but it is decision business should take.

Thanks,

Ravi
