Very much depends upon requirement but ideally it could be for a material document ,material, batch & storage location combination

Hi Sujit,

That means option "1"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'1' An inspection lot for each material document and material
If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for a material document (in a goods receipt transaction) for each material. This setting is useful, if several purchase orders or partial deliveries are processed for the same material in a goods receipt transaction.

'2' An inspection lot for each material and batch.
If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for each material and batch. This setting is only advisable for materials with a batch management requirement.

'X' An inspection lot for each purchase order item/order item
This setting is limited for use with the inspection lot origins 01 and 04.
An inspection lot is only created during the first goods receipt for each PO item or production order.

' ' An inspection lot for each material document item (No lot summary)
An inspection lot is created for each item in the goods receipt document.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What would be the difference between option 1 and option 2?

For option 2, if a specific batch is received and the inspection lot is approved, then any additional receipts of that same batch will go directly to unrestricted inventory without any inspection lot being created.

In option 1, if the same batch is received more than once, it will create an inspection lot each time it is received.

At most places, for 01 from vendors, the incoming vendor batch is received each time to a unique internally assigned batch number so l every receipt will be a unique batch and generate an inspection lot so usually "1" or "2" will pretty much be the same.

It has a more pronounced effect with 04 lots.

It depends on your process.

So much depends on how you decide to run your production and confirm your production as well as how much variability you can have in particular finished products.

Early inspection lot creation is used when you want to record results on the finished product before you actually confirm the full quantities.  This is handy if for instance you do a trial run or preliminary run and test some properties early on.

Material/batch/storage location is fine if you receipt everything in all at once.

Material document/material/batch/storage location is usually used in places where you have stringent quality requirements and no quantities of a batch can go to unrestricted inventory without being fully inspected.  Pharmaceuticals for instance.

But each of these choices in real life have different issues and you must experiment with them in your particular process.

Hi,

You can maintain 89 inspection type for manual lot creation.

Whenever you will require to do any inspection, you can do.

Hi Gyan,

I'm looking for automatic lot creation for batch managed raw materials in apparel industry.

What would be the difference between option 1 & 2 -in the Control inspection lot drop down box?
