Upgrading from NW 700 to NW 730

Hello Experts,

We have DEV system at NW 700 and some ERP components with NW as per Note 1326576 - SAP NetWeaver Systems Containing SAP ERP Software Components

My Initial CVERS is somewhat like this.

SAP_BASIS  700

SAP_ABA   700

PI_BASIS  2005_1_700

ST-PI   2005_1_700

SAP_BW   700

FINBASIS  600 (ECC 6.0)

BI_CONT   703   (Business Intelligence)

DMIS   2010_1_700 (CMA Tools)

LSOFE   600  (ECC 6.0)

SEM-BW   600  (ECC 6.0)

DMIS_CNT  2006_1_700 (SAP TDMS 3.0)

DMIS_BSC  2008_1_700 (SAP TDMS EXT BSC 3.0)

ST-A/PI   01G_BCO700

Now we need to upgrade NW to release 730.

Is it possible to upgrade NW to release 730 without upgrading ERP components. As per note 1326576

Scenario 1 (New installation on NW 7.0x or NW 7.3x):

You are planning to install additional ERP software components (ERECRUIT, SEM-BW, FINBASIS or LSOFE)  on a SAP NetWeaver 7.0x or 7.3x system and there is no predecessor installed for this components.

Here they have mentions as "New Installation" not part of Upgrade. And moreover i belive NW700--->> NW 730 is release Upgrade.

Can anyone of you tell me what will be upgrade stratagy? Do i need to upgrade only NW part of upgrade ERP components together. I am confused.

I have configured my logical system as both ERP and NetWeaver as mentioned in SAP Note 1326576

I am getting option for MOPZ for both instances.(ERP and NetWeaver)

I am not able to understand which MOPZ i should launch.

>> In MOPZ of ERP i am getting option of maintanence and EHP(Standard EHP for ERP's and no       Enhencement package is delivered with NW 730)

>> In MOPZ of NW i am getting option for maintenance , EHP and Upgrade(Release)

In NW mopz i am getting option of NW 730 thats too its giving error "NO backend ERP instance"

Please point me out where i am doing mistake.

If you want to upgrade to SAP Netweaver 730, check this Note.

Note 1539356 - Upgrade to NW 7.3 with SEM-BW, FINBASIS, SAP_BS_FND, WEBCUIF

Hello Gaurav,

This SAP Note is relevant for upgrade to NW 730 when ERP components are installed on NW system.

As per this note

"The following initial situations are supported for the upgrade to SAP NetWeaver 7.3 with SEM-BW 634, FINBASIS 634, SAP_BS_FND 730 and WEBCUIF 730:

SEM-BW 604, FINBASIS 604, SAP_BS_FND 701 (and WEBCUIF 700) on SAP_BASIS 701

Note: Note that only this one upgrade path is supported."

Means my initial state of system should be NW 701 instead of NW700.

So i need to carry out two upgrades:

1. Upgrade system to EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0(Underlying NW will be 701)

2. Upgrade to NW to 730 as per above mentioned SAP Note.

Please correct me if i am wrong somewhere.

and pay attention to some Notes mentioned in this presentation, for example Note 1468349 - SAP Business Suite 7 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3 hub systems

You need to consider your whole SAP Landscape and look for the business-requirements and then look for the interoperability of the NW-level, as explained in the presentation.

Hello SG,

First thing you need to check is the business requirement means which target version is required??

If you want to go to NW 730 then the note I suggested should be followed. upgrade to 701 then 730.

If you can go to some other release for your requirement then there might be one step upgrade also.

you can check the note 1326576 to determine the upgrade path.

Hi Surojit,

I have answered your previous thread.

So you need to follow the note 1326576 you mentioned, but check scenario 5, as your target is NW 7.3x, and thsi has pre-req that you have done scenario 4 as your source system.

Here is some addition to your MOPZ question:

Scenario 4 (Update to NW 7.0 EHP3):

You must register the NetWeaver system with ERP components in the  Solution Manager in transaction SMSY as ERP system and then create in  the Maintenance Optimizer (MOPZ) the xml file. This xml file should contain the information also for the ERP components.

Depending on the currently installed releases of the ERP software  components in your NetWeaver system, you need the following upgrade packages to perform the upgrade to the EHP6 release 6.06:
