Dear Experts,
Has anyone experiened connecting CNC machines in shop floor to SAP MII.
please give me your valuable inputs for the same
what are the interfaces required for MII to connect to each machine.
regards,
Eswar
Eswar,
We are currently working on a pilot involving some integration between MII and our CNC machines. Because of the various complexities in dealing with CNC machines if you aren't already using one, I recommend you use a 3rd party DNC point solution for interfacing with your CNC machines like Predator, Multi DNC etc. There are quite a few options out there. Then implement whatever integration you need thru that DNC software.

Christian

Dear Christian ,
Many Thanks for your prompt reply .
I am very new to this Integration , client is ready to bare the cost.
you mentioned 3rd party DNC point solution like predator ,how can I get this software here.
Please give me a clear idea how can I integrate CNC machines to SAP MII
I have knowledge working on PLC's
Please give me some detailed explanation
Regards,
Eswar
You can look for CNC DNC software here : http://lmgtfy.com/?q=cnc+dnc+software
Your client may already have a DNC and/or CNC monitoring system in place so you should ask them.
If you could be more specific about what you are trying to accomplish with this integration you may get some better advice from the forum members.
Regards,
Christian
You mean to say , there is no need of MII here.
I dont know. That really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with MII.
or else after downlaoding this software , we will connect to this software from MII
Based on my experiance so far in the CNC space that is what I recomend.
Can we have OPC server here for MII connectivity ??
Possibly. Some CNC control and monitoring implementations use OPC and historians.
At this point you really need to get a good understanding of your clients landscape/requirments and start reaching out to some DNC vendors to see what solutions they can propose.
Regards ,
Christian
