Hi ,

can you please check the below note.

But from the logs its clear that its not able to connect the database.

C  *** ERROR => Connect to database failed, rc = -10709 (Connection failed (RTE:[5] database not running))

Please install MAXdb gui . Try to add the database and see if you are able too connect it and start it.

If you are not able to install Maxdb gui you can use below command to check.

  • Logged on to db server as Administrator
  • started cmd with option "run as administrator" (just to make sure that it isn't a privilege issue)
  • executed xinstinfo NWD in order to determine the right path
  • tried dbmcli db_state:

Then I checked the task manager, where a MaxDB task is running:

1875264 - SAP does not start in Windows systems with MaxDB: XUSER problem

1869334 - R3Trans works but SAP does not start in MaxDB

684452 - MaxDB/LiveCache cannot start after a crash or system restart: UNKNOWN Status

Please also check.

Please pay attention to the d) recommended steps in the note 129352.

Please check with OS users sidadm, sqdsid that you could connect to the database with DEFAULT key settings for XUSER:

sqlcli  -U DEFAULT ...

or

dbmcli -U c -USQL sql_execute "select * from users"

Please follow the note 39439 and check/set the XUSER entry for the default key correctly for the OS user, which restart the application serve

Please also check the below blog.

Hi Rishi,

Thanks for detailed response.   You have mentioned  that Logged on to db server as Administrator?.  I have no Idea where it lies. Or I am wondering If something is missing from Installation. After installation I have the following users nspadm and sapadm . Does that mean  some things is missing from my installation.  I have installed recent version of JRE, do you think it might be a problem.

Thanking you

with best regards

Hi Mahendra,

I don't think you installed the SAP Database Server previously, looking at your thread.

So please read my previous answer, it WON'T work if you ONLY have SAP Application Server installed.

Please follow the "normal" SAP Installation procedure.

I hope this will help you.

Andre

Hi Andre,

Thanks fro the reply. In fact I have followed the following popular  youtube demonstration .  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km0MbEQxvOo

Should I seperately install MaxDB or it comes with SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.03.

Thanking You

best Regards

Hi Mahendra,

Normally we use the SAP Installation Guide to perform installation.

If you are following the YouTube demonstration video, and I just have a quick look at it, if you follow it all correctly, you should have installed "Central System", and this is including the Database-instance.

And on the video, you should logon as user sapadm to start your SAP environment. You could also try to logon as user nspadm and try the same if you want to.

Because not all steps (input parameters) are shown, I can't comment on this user, it depend on which SID (System ID) you have choosen during your installation.

If you still get an error during startup, try to execute this from command-line, logged on as user nspadm: R3trans -d, and look for the log-file and find the error there, in the same directory you executed this.

I hope this will help you.

Andre

Hi ,

Super DBA is the administrator for MAXdb.

Try to create a user id on the server which has admin rights then Can you install MAXDB gui on the database server and check the connection and settings if you are able to connect to database and is online.

When you try to user MAXDB gui it will ask you for user id and the password to connect the database use superdba.

Thanks

Hi Mahendra,

The error mentioned: *** ERROR => Connect to database failed, rc = -10709 (Connection failed (RTE:[5] database not running))

The Installation procedure of SAP is: Install Database Instance first, then Install Application Server (or DB+CI+DI). If you "only" install App Server, it won't start because it checks for the DB-connection during the start process. That's why it "stops" the workprocess if this is failed.

I hope this will help you.

Regards,

Andre
