SAP PO 7.31 - Java Only - Unable to read configuration data (ExchangeProfile/aii.properties)

Former Member

Hello,

we've just installed SAP PO 7.31 as Java only installation with BPM and BRM. On trying to access page exposing the links to ESR/ID

http://[host:port]/rep/start/index.jsp, we're getting the following error message:

"Unable to read configuration data (ExchangeProfile/aii.properties)"

Does anybody know what might be the reason? I went through a couple of discussions indicating that problem might have to do

something with the assignment of roles to technical users used internally by the system. But I didn't find a clarification which
users and roles should be concerned exactly. Also the threads we're related to installation such as CE not PO. There was also a

statement that the exchange profile would no longer exist in Java only installations. So why is it still referenced?

I would highly appreciate any ideas and comments regarding this issue.

Kind regards,

Heiko

P.S: In the past SAP published central installation and configuration documents for products such as SAP PI. For SAP PO we haven't

found any document like this. Isn't there any central installation and configuration guide available for SAP PO?

Hi Heiko,

The PI 7.31 AEX no longer uses the Exchange Profile. All the old Exchange Profile properties are now available as a Service in the NWA. Check the value of the "com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.usage_type" parameter in the NWA.

The parameter can be found in the Netweaver Administrator (NWA) -> "Configuration" -> "Infrastructure" -> "Java System Properties" -> "Services" -> "XPI Service: AII Config Service"

Check the value here is set to AEX.

Hello Mark,

thank's for your reply the current value of this property is XPI. Do you know which step in the installation process might determine this value?

Hello Mark,

I have found the following blog supporting to your statement. It also says that the property will have to be changed before importing ESR content. This answers more or less my question on when the property is set during installation process.

To be honest, SAP should really provide a central installation guide explaining these installation steps.

Kind regards,

Heiko

Hi Heiko,

If you are installing the AEX, then "com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.usage_type" should have the value AEX. Are you able to access the PI start page after changing this to AEX?

You can verify what components were installed by going to the URL https://<host>:<port>/utl/UsageTypesInfo. See note 1628214 Process Integration (PI) Usage Types Overview, for more details. Check if any of the dual stack components were installed by mistake.

The CTC Wizard takes care of importing the Basis content.

Regards

Mark

Hi Heiko,

This is surely the case since you didn't perform the post-installation steps. Please refer to SAP Note https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1548120 for further details.

Best Regards

Hello Heiko,

After you completed the install, did you:

  1. apply the latest SP stack
  2. run the Configuration Wizard (see note 1548120 Configuration Wizard: PI Process Integration & Orchestration)
