Hello

The most important thing you need to consider when you do a kernel upgrade from a lower release to a higher release kernel is to make sure there is no kernel files (leftovers) from the previous release.

You need to delete all the files present under /sapmnt/SRQ/exe /usr/sap/SRQ/SCS71/exe and /usr/sap/SRQ/DVEBMGS70/exe

Additionally make sure that you download the IGS and the SAPHOSTAGENT files and update them.

You should read this SAP Note carefully as most of your answers are there :

Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11

Hi,

Please stop SAP system & kill all running process specialy sapstartsrv. As you are upgrading kernel fro 700 to 720 so you have to sync your local instace kernel (/usr/sap/<SID>/exe )as well. Please run the below command & try to start again. Hope this will resolve your issue.

·         cd /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/<INSTANCE>/work

·         sapcpe pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<instance profile>

Hi Vivek,

Please go through

1766358 - Start of instance fails with "Unknown webmethod:
WaitforServiceStarted"

I hope it should fix your issue.

Cheers,

Hi Vivek

402 is the latest one,

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 276386143 Jul 15 16:59 SAPEXE_402-10007264.SAR

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root  14761799 Jul 15 16:38 SAPEXEDB_402-10007263.SAR

you need to extraxt both these into

/sapmnt/SID/EXE

/usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS##/exe

Best Regards

HI,

I would suggest you to manually sync (copy ) all kernel files to your SCS/exe and DVEBMGS/exe directories .

Refer:

http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver-administrator/blog/2013/05/22/upgrading-sap-kernel-from-relea...

I agree with Antony.

You have to follow notes:

Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11

Note 1629598 - SAP Kernel 720 will replace older kernel versions

So, you have to run sapcpe to sincronise the kernel.

Hi Vivek,

Stop all and make sure there are no active processes running

ps -ef | grep sap

kill the remaining processes

Unpack the kernel also in /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS##/exe

and try to start again

Best Regards

Marius
