HI Experts,

I recently upgraded the OS of our DR server fro Windows server 2003 to Windows server 2008. But the installation of the oracle prompted an error which made the installation stop. The error states the the system version of the OS is to high. How can i remedy this without reverting the OS back to Windows server 2003?

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Check https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1486772 for details:

Oracle 10g:

To install the Oracle 10.2.0.4 database software, use the RDBMS DVD #51036975 (ORACLE 10.2.0.4 Failsafe Server 3.4.1.5, this DVD includes the database and the Failsafe component).

Copy the sapserver.zip file attached to this note.

Unpack sapserver.cmd and replace sapserver.cmd in the following directory:

<work directory>:\NT\AMD64

Install the database server software 10.2.0.4 as documented with sapserver.cmd.

Before you install the SAP system, install patch set 10.2.0.5.

Before you install the SAP system, apply the latest patch collection according to SAP notes 839182 and 1431752.

HA system: Use Oracle Failsafe 3.4.2, which is available on the Oracle 11 DVD (# 51038964). As of OFS 3.4.2, the Oracle Failsafe Client is also available on 64-Bit and no longer needs to be installed from the 32-Bit DVDs.

Make sure that you use the modified kernel DVD (or combined installation master/kernel DVD for CE) (see above).

Dear Rosedno,

You can always have a look at PAM (Product Availability Matrix) for SAP beforehand of any installation, please go to the link http://service.sap.com/pam to do the same. Please find the information on https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001225132009E .

Oracle 10.2 and 11.2 are supported on Windows Server 2008 x64 (and R2 as well).

If you are using Oracle 10.2 then you can use the workaround described in Note 980426 which is already mentioned by Rishi Abrol.
