Hi everyone,
I get this message while installing SAP trial:

I found that post: http://scn.sap.com/thread/1859560
This is the same problem as I have. So I installed the lookback adapter, changed the host file adding the following line:
10.10.0.10 Jérôme-PC
after having checked that my hostname is "Jérôme-PC" of course.
The ping on the IP adress is valid.
PS: I got a windows 7 64 bits and tried to install the SAP trial 64 bits but windows says that the program is not responding then I get this message:
iaextract.c.926: child has signaled an exec error. Keeping directory C:/Users/JRME~1/AppData/Local/Temp/sapinst_exe.16984.1373738765
And also this one:
Program is starting... Please wait!
ERROR 2013-07-13 20:06:19.887 [syxxcniwrapper.cpp:105]
NI::CNIInit::CNIInit() lib=syslib module=syslib

Exit status of child: 255
So I gave up and tried to install the 32 bits version that gives me the long mesage above
I don't know what to do ... Thanks for your help.
I hope you understand my English since I am not English speaker.
Hi Jerome,
What is your host's name ?? How long it is ??
Did check for its binding.

Divyanshu

Hi Jerome,
since today there is a new SAP NetWeaver 7.40 trial in the cloud available - no need to install the system yourself anylonger.
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-41566 - SCN Trial Editions: SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.4
I know that this is not a solution for your particular issue, but in case your issues seems to become unresolvable, the cloud could help you 😉

Hannes

and please dont give any special character in host name.
please check 611361 sap note for host name.

Hello Jerome,
Please paste here the content of
%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts .
The issue is somewhere in network configuration.
Best regards,
Adam

Hello, here is the content of the hosts file:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
10.10.0.10 Jérôme-PC
Hello Jerome,
According to SAP note 611361:
[...]
General rule for hostnames according to RFCs 952, 1101, 1123, 1178:
Alphanumerical string of alpha characters [A-Z] and [a-z] and digits [0-9] and the hyphen (or minus) character "-". (...)
First of all make the hostname consistent.
Option1
Change the hosts file this way:
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.10.0.10 Jerome-PC Jérôme-PC
Reboot the PC and restart sapinst.
Option 2
Another (probably better) solution is to define a new, virtual IP-address - Hostname pair (instead of an alias like above):
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.10.0.10 Jérôme-PC
10.10.0.11 Jerome-PC
and start sapinst this way:
(...)\sapinst.exe SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=Jerome-PC
But this is more complicated, because other settings are necessary as well, see SAP note 1564275.
Therefore I'd recommend first to try with Option 1.
Adam
