ECC(proxy with attachment) to BW(proxy with attachment) via PI 7.0

Hi All,

I have been posting some queries on attachment these days and still the issue is unresolved due to requirement changes.

Subject Line explains the scenario.

SAP ECC will send  xml with (flat file) attachment  via proxy connectivity to PI. There is no transformation in PI. And SAP BW will receive the xml with attachment via proxy connectivity.

Please explain how to send attachments from PI (7.0) using XI adapter.

Hello Vishal,

You do not need to anything special configuration in XI. The ECC system should ensure to send proxy message along with attachment to XI IE using proxy configuration. In XI, use XI adapter to send this message to BW. Of course, you need type-H rfc destination to BW from XI and it should be used in XI channel to BW.

I have some questions:

1. So nothing additional to be done in PI(7.0) configuration to send the attachment to BW correct? PI will automatically take of reading and writing the attachment?
2. If yes, could you please explain the background process which takes care of this?

Yes, everything will be taken care by XI protocol using XI adapter since XI protocol is an extension to standard SOAP protocol.
