Difference between RE - sales and sales and distribution in sap

Dear Gurus,

Kindly help me in finding the difference of RE - sales and Sales and distribution in SAP. Real estate can be mapped in sales and distribution also. But, do not know why RE-sales has upper hand over sales and distribution when it comes to real estate mapping.

I have to write one article regarding this and am unable to find any relevant document. Kindly help.

Hi,

RE-Sales and Sales and distribution are two wings, you cannot map RE in SD

The difference is

In RE, what ever the cost you capture is for servicing the RE objects they have to either settle to themselves or settle to the customer for which you should create a maintenance order

This maintenance order will capture the cost from the operations you performed and components you used

This cannot be handled in SD

For example, consider one big apartment in which you let a flat for rent or you want to sell one flat

so whole apartment is created as RE Object as 1000/10/10 which can be read as apartment 1000 in which 10th floor 10th flat is sold

If this has to be maintained, then you will create Maintenance Order with which you will capture the cost of maintenance and to whom it has to be settled or billed

with Maintenance order you will create a sales order if the cost has to be settled to customer

or you can settle the cost to cost center it is maintained as common area ( just considered apartment)
