DBACOCKPIT for remote SAP systems with Oracle

Hello!

We would like to integrate all the remote SAP systems centrally into DBACOCKIT of one SAP NetWeaver system.

The most sap systems are residing within other network segments from this SAP NetWeaver system.

Question

Which ICMP ports we should open in order to integrate all the systems into DBACOCKIT?

Is there difference between Windows and Unix/Linux regarding the ports?

Thank you!

Hi Alex,

Request you to refer SAP note Note 1261329 - DBA Cockpit: Oracle as a remote database

Based on the configuration you may need to open the relevant ports.

Hello,

I went trough this sap note, unfortunately there is no network explanations about the ports.

Do I need to open only the tnslistener port of certain systems (e.g. 1527)?

Yes, all you need to do is open the listener port to the remote database.

You can test the connection with the tnsping command, or do a telnet <remote_host> 1527 from your application server.

Hi Alex,

it depends on your network / firewall configuration (and the possible network protocol interpretation by your firewall).

The database communication is the following: Client (dynamic ports) <-> Listener Port (e.g. 1527)

Depending on your firewall rules (and features / SQL ALG) the dynamic port issue could be a problem. The Oracle Connection Manager is usually used, if a "large" amount of databases is hidden behind a firewall and the firewall configuration should be "static".

Regards

Stefan
