Question Related to XI\PI and Adapters

Hi all,

I have few questions related to XI\PI.

1) as far as i know for WEBAS > 6.20 we dont need adapters for communication because we have Proxies to take care of communication.

the question is Adapters in the sense we dont need any adapters such as IDOC adapters  and RFC adapters when proxies are there. Or do we still need RFC adapters and IDOC Adapters , and if so what is the diiference between XI adapters and IDOC or RFC ADAPTERS , Please revert back if the question is not clear. Any help will be highly appreciated. Im new to XI/PI so if you think my question is wrong some where please correct me.
