New SCA Question

Ok, so thanks to some help here on the forum, I can get JSPM to start so that I cam try to install the SCA files for SP8.  However, now I get this message when I try to install them:

Can't verify package

and the log says

Could not establish connection to AS Java on [nw73:50004]. Cannot authenticate the user, wrong or missing security credentials (password) for principal [test]

and then another one for [administrator]

What gives?

Never let it be said that BASIS is not important for IDM!

Finally solved it!

The OData component of my NW 7.3 EHP1 installation needed to be updated with the SP9 version.  Once I did this I was able to import the REST and HTML5 SCA files.

Still getting errors, but at least the infrastructure is in place!

Hi Matt,

Are you stuck at the authentication step of JSPM or at a later stage ?

If you are stuck at 'Deploy Queue' step, then the below solution might be useful to you.

From the error log you have posted , I read a statement  'Prerequisite condition violated for IDMUI5'. If you are working with NW 7.3 ensure that you have applied SP09 of NW 7.3.

UI5 component is available only from NW 7.3 SP09.

Thanks,

Anuj

What is the easiest way to check the patch level? How can I update it if I don't have dolman installed?

Pull up /nwa

Contifuration tab > Infrastrucutre sub tab > System Information (lower right hand side of all the entries > Components Info tab

The top section are your components my ADSSAP component looks like this:  1000.7.30.9.0.20130217101700

Another option that may work better for you would be the SUM tool; I just found that JSPM is broken with a 7.4 java app installation.  I found that it picked up new components to be installed along with SP updates to items I already had installed.

Billy, it seems that SUM is now required.  Trying to get it running now.  Sometimes it loads, sometimes it does not.

You could also try to connect to your server via telnet and deploy it with that console.

On your server open a new command window and connect to your server:

> telnet localhost 50008

I think the port depends on the InstanceID - should be 5<Instance>08

Authenticate with your Administrator account and then type
> deploy C:\temp\IDMIC08_0-20005939.SCA

This Note also asks to check SAPJVM.

SAP Note 1678363  - JSPM fails during the validation phase in NW 7.3

Yeah I saw that too.... No dice. Even tried a reboot

What user did you use for JSPM?

Keeping in mind that you should be right clicking and choosing "Run As" (may require to hold down the shift key too) and using the <SID>adm user and password to launch JSPM.  An alternative would be to log Remote/log into the server as <SID>adm.

After JSPM is launched as <SID>adm, administrator should be fine; I have seen some rare case (NW 7.0x) likes to have "j2ee_admin" as the user to run properly.

Billy,

I tend to do things as administrator, as I mentioned to Ridouan, I'm working in VMs so I can be a little less secure in my lab environment.

I'll try logging in as the ADM user.

Since I switched to the Basis life style, security only gets in the way of things

I did see you were using Administrator, was posting for the benefits of others who may not have a new NetWeaver version to work with in their environment/landscape(s).

Ok, so I tried logging in as my adm user and I get the following:

Validation finished with error. See log C:\usr\sap\CTI\J00\j2ee\JSPM\log\log_2013_07_03_09_04_01\deploy_api.0.log for details

You can validate the components again by choosing Retry

I'm kinda fixated on that first part where it says I can't authenticate.

When I logged into JSPM I used my administrator account / password for SAP.

Is there some service that needs to be running.

Per Ridouan's advice I am NOT running a firewall.

Saw a link that suggested upgrading SAP JVM for JPSM to latest.  Did not work.http://scn.sap.com/thread/2034483

You seem to still have an issue with the authorizations, have you verified that 'administrator' has j2ee_admin in http://servername:5<nn>00/ume  (if /ume doesn't work /nwa does).

Another thought, you may have a messed up SDM account, I'm looking through a 7.3 java only stack right now to see if I can find a way to that you can verify if your SDM is working.

That is what is wrong, I don't know what principal or test is referencing?

ARG, they removed the SDM directory with 7.3 so that option is out

Hi Matt,

Try to update JSPM itself before deploying other components.

Ridouan

I'll check that. I know I have the permissions on "my" account

Hi Matt,

If you are a using a firewall, please make sure NW related ports are open/accessible. They all starts with 5<x>0xx. Make sure you use UME Administrator user and password.

Another way of doing this is to use NWDS instead. Go to Window --> Show View and search for "Deploy View", additionally add "Deploy View Console" as well.

In the Deploy View highlight "External Deployable Archives" and select SCA file using the green + sign.

Ridouan

Ridouan, how do I access NWDS?

Ridouan,

Ok found and downloaded NWDS and followed your instructions.  Now I get this error:

Note that I have installed JDK 1.6.37 and restarted NWDS prior to this message.

Hi Matt,

Could you please download sapjvm_6 from SAP Marketplace?

Create an eclipse shortcut on your desktop an put the extra line in the Traget: C:\APPS\eclipse\SapNetweaverDeveloperStudio.exe -vm "C:\Program Files\Java\sapjvm_6\bin\javaw.exe"

Let me know If you still have issues.

Regards,

Ridouan
