Cannot find ERP 2004 system copy guide

Dear experts,

I already managed successfully a system copy for a solution manager 7.01 by the help of the respective guide. Now I need some help as I want to do the same for another system which is based on Netweaver 2004 / ERP ECC 5.00.

I cannot find the documentation for a system copy of this version, the only one I found was for the above mentioned newer system releases.

I searched our DVDs which where used to install the system and found in the installation master DVD (51031149) that there is an option for exporting the database content. But I do not found an option for importing it later in the target system?! So the question would be how to perform the system copy and which media should I used to achieve this?

Source system:

- Windows 2003 Server, 32bit

- SAP Netweaver/ERP ECC 5.00

- non-unicode

- MaxDB 7.5

Target system:

- Windows 2008 RC2 Server, 64bit

- SAP Netweaver/ERP ECC 5.00

- unicode

- MaxDB 7.5

Any help would be great.

Thx Reagan for the hint. Indeed you are right, but currently this is not my biggest problem 🙂 First of all, as mentioned above, I need an advise if there are sapinst media which can be used for system copy of an ERP 2004 system.

you are great, thanks. That was Description I needed. I was so close but only went to the general list of installation docs/pdf and did not see the entry "SAP Web AS 6.40 SR1 and Related Documentation". From there on it is indeed quite easy!

Hi Shahab,

thx for the links but unfortunately the thread you mentioned seems to handle a newer version (ERP2005) where the sapinst installer has the respective option to choose source and target system.

Please correct me if I am wrong: As I am on an older version (ECC 5.00 is based on Netweaver 6.40 and also called ERP 2004), I cannot find the option in the install medium.

Or can I use a newer installation dvd? If so which one should I use?

Hi Andreas,

You can use the same media you have used for the source system.

I guess that you need to follow the normal system installation process and choose your export on database installation method step (by selecting system copy).

The documentation link provided by Reagan mentions the same.

Hi Shahab,

I sucessfully exported my data from the source system using the installation master dvd 'Netweaver 04 SR1'.

But when trying to install the target system with the same media dvd I noticed that it does not contain a matching folder for the new windows 64bit version of the target system!!

When using the 'IM01_NT_I386' sapinst version I got an error that the os has a different architecture.

Is there any dvd media having the option to install the Netweaver 2004 SR1 on a windows 64bit OS? If so please guide me where I can find this. In the market I only see the Netweaver 7.x versions as the Netweaver 2004 is no longer maintainted. But I need to move the old system onto the new hardware!!!

Any help would be great!

For installation cd details please refer to SNOTE 965037.

For 64 bit install you may need to download 51031148_2 disk.

If you are not able to find any of the old installation softwares you need to open a customer message to get access to the software.
