Hi Techies,

Wanted to add some liveCache systems in the DBM, but while doing so there is a port number field which is to be specified which is needed to add that particular system in the DBM.

How can we identify the port number of a particular liveCache system?

Can any one help me out with the same.?

Thanks and Regards,

Janardan

Hi Janardan,

You need not specify the port number while using DBM. Just specify the hostname or IP address and you should be able to connect.

For details of port number you may use link

http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/44/bf820566fa5e91e10000000a422035/content.htm

Hope this helps.

Hi Deepak,

Correct me if I am wrong the xserver process runs under background process vserver.

If this is the case, the vserver process is running on the server.

Kindly assist.

Thanks and regards,

Janardan.

Hi Deepak,

Thanks for the input but still while adding using the Default port no(7210) for Maxdb, it throws error stating"-4 Server Might be inactive".

I confirmed that  am able to ping the Server.

Thanks and Regards,

Janardan.

Hi Janardan,

Could you please check whether X-Server is running on the host where MaxDB database is installed ?

Incase the host is on windows please check XServer service under services.msc

Incase the host is unix please check using command ps- eaf | grep xserver

Refer link http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/45/37c76371534c2ee10000000a1553f6/content.htm for more details on starting the xserver

Hope this helps.
