SAP GUI 7.30 with Patch Level 4 crashes when viewing documents.

Dear All,

We face a problem after upgrading to SAP GUI 7.30 with Patch Level 4.

As soon as we want to view some attached documents
within i.g. MM02 the complete SAP GUI crashes (aka “Fast Exit”).

At the moment we do not have any clue where the problem is.

Regards,

Markus

Hallo Markus,

Are you using the latest hotfixes of patch 4?

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1861183

If yes,and the issue persists, open a message in BC-FES-GUI with an open R/3 connection.

Hi Jude,

Im working in desktop support space. 8 people having issue with this. i have installed the hotfix 2 patch 4, document viewer is working fine but as soon as a user click on exit, back, or cancel button on the toolbar, SAP 7.30 will totally close(crash).

it supposed to go to the previous screen rather than killing it. tried also on the laptop but this time, i get library runtime error.

appreciate if you can assist me getting this fixed.

thanks in advance

Gerald

Hello Gerald,

Have you tried installing patch 5 of 7.30?

1 - From page 45 of the frontend installation guide.
     Start -> Control panel -> Add/remove.

2 - After this, please make sure that the folder
c:\Program files\SAP\FrontEnd is properly removed. Otherwise delete
it manually.

3 - Re-install the 730 with patch 5

4- Reboot the PC

Hi Jude,

thanks for your reply.

Did the following steps;

1. Installed SAP 7.30 on a clean machine with patch 5.

2. reboot the pc and tried it again but with no luck.

3. the application will close automatically.

tried on both desktop and a laptop.

laptop didnt have the runtime error but its now the same behaviour as desktop machine(fast exit). also some users had "server busy" message and they need to logoff and logback in to start again.

we are now rolling back the version back to 7.2 as they never had any issues with this for the time being.

so far tried the following patch

level 3

level 4

hotfix 2 level 4

patch 5

but if theres any fix we can try, always wiiling to have a go.

also,  ive checked if theres any error created(logs) but couldnt find any problem at all.

thanks

Gerald

Somehow I remember having problems with runtime errors as well. The solution was, if I remember correctly, to install the latest .NET updates via Windows Update.

May you give it a try.

Hi Jann,

tried to reinstall .Net 3.5/4.0 but no luck.

For now, we had to roll back to 7.2 w/o any patches and now fixed.

Thanks

Gerald

There must be some assembly files corrupted somewhere.

It would be good if  you can follow the below note.
