Hi Srinivasan,

You may need to follow below steps

1) Install a new target system  R3 4.7 Unicode with MSSQL 2005 on Windows 2003 .

2) Perform Unicode conversion of R3 4.7 non-Unicode -> R3 4.7 Unicode on the system built in step-1 using Unicode conversion method.

3)  Perform SAP upgrade to ECC 6.0 EHP5 on the target system running with MSSQL 2005 on Windows 2003.

4) Post upgrade to EHP5 perform homogenous system copy to MSSQL 2008 R2 running on Windows 2012 64-bit.

5) Perform upgrade to EHP6 with MSSQL 2008 R2 and Windows 2012.

As per PAM, ECC 6.0 EHP6 can run only on Windows 2008 or above while R3 4.7 is not compatible with Windows 2008. Hence you are required to follow such an approach.

Below links are details from PAM

For R3 4.7

For ECC 6.0 EHP6

For ECC 6.0 EHP5

Hope this helps.

Hi Deepak,

Regarding SUM (software update manager).

I want to upgrade R/3 enterprise 4.7x200 to ERP6.0 incl EHP6. Therefore SUM should be the tool to use.

In a early stage the SUM asks for: "select target system version". 2 opties: Stack configuration file (XML) of course generated by MOPZ. This is not an option for me as for now since we don't have an active Solman yet (still needs to be installed). 2nd option is: manually prepared directory. However this option is not selectable..!? My thoughts are that this is because it handles a version upgrade and therefore maybe not possible??!!? What other option are there? Any advise is appreciated!

Thanks in Advance.

Hello Srinivasan

Check the SAP notes I have mentioned above and you will get most of the answers.

How to migrate 32bit to 64bit OS migration.(4.7 is running on 32bit operating system)

Note 666805 - MS SQL Server: Migrating from 32-bit to 64-bit

Note 960769 - Windows: Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit (x86_64)

If none of the SAP notes are satisfactory then you may contact SAP for clarification.

Regards

Hi Srinivasan

Please check PAM if ECC6 is supported on Win 2012.

As far as i know Win 2012 is not yet officially supported - the highest is 2008 R2.

(It doesn't mean that it won't work - but you may encounter issues....)

Hello All,

I need to perform SAP system copy in SAP R/3 4.7 running on windows 2003 and SQL server 2005 to windows 2008 and sql server 2008. Can you please let me know what are steps I need to follow on this.

Do I need to take export of t the existing CI or I can create new instance and restore the backup of source system.

Please suggest me best practice to perform homogeneous system copy.

Thanks,
