How is sample size calculated?
This can depend on a whole bunch of factors and values.
The most basic is via the material master where you can specify a % or 100% inspection or a sampling procedure for a given inspection type.
Then in inspection plans you can specify a sampling procedure for each characteristic if needed.
Then depending on how you set up the characteristics the qty need for each characteristic may be additive, thus adding to the required sample size.
Then you can have the system take into account the containers received if needed.
You can set up sampling schemes to work with your sampling procedures.
You can also use physical samples and set up a sampling plan that can take into account reserve samples, spare samples, extra amounts of sample in case of a spill or retest, etc. etc...
So it can get very complicated going from as simple as clicking on 100% inspection in the material master inspection type set up to elaborate sampling plans with separate sample numbers and the printing of sample labels.

Hi,
Sample Size is calculated based on the Sampling procedure assigned to the MIC of the inspection Plan, if sampling procedure not assigned for the respective MIC, 100% sampling enabled or else Sampling procedure defined in the Plant level settings will be taken or else sampling procedure defined in the inspection type will be taken by system

Hi,
With the help of Sampling procedure, system calculate sample size.
A sampling procedure is assigned to an inspection characteristic in inspection plan or material specification.
You have to maintained sampling procedure indicator in control indicator of Master inspection characteristic.
