SAP Web Dispatcher configuration on remote systems

Former Member

Hello All,

We need help regarding the Web dispatcher installation and configuration on remote systems.

1. We have to install Web Dispatcher on a seperate server lets say Server1 with IP: XXX.XXX.XX.01 and now the action plan is to integrate it with the other server say Server2 with IP: XXX.XXX.XX.02 on which SAP system is installed.

2. Now the workflow has to be in such a way that, if an URL for example: www.example.com:<port>; is accessed from the outside internet it has to first go to the internel firewall and then to Web Dispatcher (server1) and finally it has to redirect it to the actual SAP system (server2).

Outside internet --> Firewall --> Web Dispatcher (server1) --> SAP system (Server2)

Could anyone please guide us the steps if this configuration is possible?

Appreciating your response in advance.

Thank you.

Hi

in my previous customer I had exactly that config.

Internet call -> Linux firewall server with public ip (for internet) and private ip(for intranet) and web dispatcher (same server but you can configure your firewall rerouting right calls to webdisp) -> SAP system

Is this what you asked?

Let me know further details otherwise

Thanks Andrea,

Yes, this is what I certainly asked for. And our requirement is on Windows environment.

The workflow must be:

Outside Internet (URL:www.example.com:<port)--> to Firewall --> Webdispatcher (Server1, URL:http://hostname1.com:<port1>/service/) --> SAP System (Server2, URL: http://hostname2.com:<port2>/service/)

We have already installed web dispatcher on Server1. Now we need to configure/integrate both the servers.

Please provide the configuration steps, parameter adjustments, etc..

Thanks a lot.

Hi mate

I didn't get it.

You stated that you already installed web disp and then you asked me regarding integration between web disp and sap product; did you specify message server host (in message server parameters section) and "create configuration for system of size" (i.e.:medium) during installation? If yes, you already got it.

If not, you can repeat the installation adjusting those parameters or configure the same things pointing to http://messageserverhostname:message port choosen with 66 in the end/sap/admin/default.html

(i.e.:http://ilovesap.custom.local/8166/sap/admin/default.html)

If none of the previous, let me know further details and i'll help u

Hi Andrea,

Probably the installation went wrong and may be we need to repeat the installation.

Could you please suggest the correct media to use and the necessary settings and adjustments?

Thank you very much for your support.

Hi

tbh with you it's really strange that installation went wrong because it's more or less like unpacking zipped files ..

anyway follow this thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/1188818 and then start again with the installation with installation master dvd of your release. (you can find it under the entry under sap netweaver -> standalone engines -> web dispatcher)

Let me know if you need me

Hi Andrea,

We have now successfully installed the Web Dispatcher and the admin login works fine as well.. We can now access the link from the server.

We are trying to make the service available from outside internet.

Thank you very much for your help.
