Clarification Needed in calculated field

Hi Experts,

Can anyone suggest whether it is possible to edit or update a calculated  field in Data Manager without changing the expression written in console.

Hi Neethu,

MDM automatically updates calculated field values whenever changes are made to main table fields or qualified table fields via the Data Manager or through import. However, calculations based on lookup field values are not updated automatically after fields on the lookup table are modified. In these cases, the calculated field must either be updated manually from the Records pane or else the entire repository must be stopped and then restarted with the Build Indices option. To manually update the values of a record’s calculated fields, simply right-click on the record in the Records pane and choose Recalculate from the context menu. All calculated field values in the selected records will be updated by this operation.

Hi Neethu,

You cannot edit the contents of a calculated field either through Data Manager or through Import Manager. To update the value of the calculated field, you have to edit the values of underlying fields in such a way that it should reflect correct values in MDM for that calculated field.

Easy way to do is to create the resultant expression in Excel file and alter the values to come to the desired output. Finally you can update the values of participating fields from Import manager and subsequently the calculated field will be updated.
