When i checked the road map of HANA it says it will have a Native Integration with Hadoop what does it mean?
Hi Pradeep ,
when you are pulling unstructured data the will use Hadoop , via BODS you will pull data to HANA.
Hadoop is considered as one of the best in storing the structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
Combine structured and un-structured data and transfer it to SAP HANA via a Hadoop / HANA Connector.
Below is High level diagram how HANA & Hadoop are integrated.
I Request you read my blogs on HANA-Hadoop integration. ,
Kindly let me know still if you have any questions....
Vivek : Thanks for sharing by blog links.

Hi Mahesh,
Thanks for the you and vivek on responding to my post .
My question was about what was mentioned in HANA Road map. I have read your posts about HANA and Hadoop before and got some idea.
But if we look in to Product road map of HANA .SAP has mentioned as "Native Integration".
This is what i am trying to understand .
I checked with Thomas Jung who is currently training in Open.sap.com but he mentioned that he has no idea on Hadoop and asked to post here.
The reason why i am asking this is because other teams in our company are building a product on Hadoop . I would like to know about the term "Native Integration" .
Here is the link
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-33110
In that if you check SAP HANA in database and technology
https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000462232012D.pdf
One of the point says :
"
Big data
● More solutions to help organizations deal with their big data challenges, including native integration with Hadoop
"
What does Native Integration mean?
Thanks,
Pradeep.
Hello Pradedeep,
Integration with Big data like Hadoop, Teradata, etc.. or any other sources is done by SDA(Smart Data Access) in SAP HANA.
Bca, SAP HANA Database consists 2 types of table or data , i.e Hana Table or Data and Virtual Table or Data.
1. Hana Table lies inside of SAP HANA Database for combining its own data.
2. Virtual Table, which is used for combining SAP HANA data with other heterogeneous data sources like Hadoop, Teradata, SAP Sybase ASE and SAP Sybase IQ.
This is called Smart Data Access(SDA).
