Hi Experts,

I came to know of change in steps or approach for Upgrading an Oracle version <= 11.2.0.2.0 to greater than = 11.2.0.3.0..

After going through SDN forum posts, what i drafted as steps are:

1) Need to create a new oracle home for 11.2.0.3.

2) Install the new oracle software i.e. 11.2.0.3

3) apply the current SBP to the new ORACLE_HOME

4) From new home we need to execute the dbua

5) Perform post activities

6) Detach the Old Oracle Home and Delete

kindly help to confirm this.

Regards,

Tuhin

Hi Tuhin,

The method you described is the correct SAP standard out-of-place Oracle upgrade process.

Hello Tuhin,

Even though your procedure seems correct, the recommended way is always to follow the upgrade guide, which you can find on the link bellow:

  -> Database Upgrades
