PI Installation problem

Hi,

we were installing PI and on the way we were struck with the solution manager key. It was asking for the solution manager key and the key which we gave is not working.

How can we generate solution manager key which will be useful for PI installation.

I could not understand the connection between solution manager and PI.

can anybody help me to resolve this issue, help would be really appreciated

Hi,

You have to install solution manager in a different system and try to generate the key. Once when you develop the key you should give this in PI when you are installing.

You dont need to have the connection between solution manager and PI for this.

Hi,

Assuming that you have installed solution manager and the steps required to create the keys are given here. If you have not installed you have to install using the installatin document like for which Database and for which OS from Service market place.

Srinivas,

You need to generate the Solution Manager key because SAPinst prompts for it during the input phase of the installation. Without this key, the installation process cannot continue.

You can generate all needed keys for your entire system landscape on one SAP Solution Manager system. For more information, see SAP Note 805390.

<b>Prerequisites</b>

You require SAP Solution Manager 3.2 SP 08 or higher.

Procedure

1. If SAP Solution Manager is not yet available in your system landscape, proceed as follows:

a) Order SAP Solution Manager as described in SAP Note 628901.

b) Install SAP Solution Manager as described in the documentation Installation Guide -> SAP Solution Manager <release> on <OS> : <Database> on SAP Service Marketplace at: https://service.sap.com/solutionmanager SAP Solution Manager Installation Guides Release <3.2 or 4.0>

2. Generate the SAP Solution Manager key as described in SAP Note 811923.

<b>Result</b>

The system displays the key, which you need to enter during the input phase of the installation.
