Excess Production Planned in APO 30A

Friends, need help!

We are trying to run CTM for a Product in APO 30A and we have the following issue:

CTM is recommending excess production quantities and/or recommending

production well before it is required. This does not occur for all

products but happens somewhat randomly. Reviews of the product,

resource, and PPM master data does not show any differences between the

products for which results are as expected and those for which results

are incorrect. PPM's are set up with the finished good material only -

there are no component availability issues. PPM's and Resources are

set up to simulate infinite capacity - there are no production capacity

issues. Planning calendars and timestreams are set up as 24 x7 x 365:

there are no periods during which production cannot occur.

Pls help me out with your suggestions.

Thanks

Hi,

For CTM, Resources should be of finate capacity. CTM will take into account the supply as well as the current capacity profile simultaneously.

Raghu,

Plant is assigned to a infinite resource. Hence there is no issue with supply. We are using Interval Planning (first 8 months as weeks and rest 12 months as Months). Safety Stock is also planned. We are using CTM Parameter SSTOCK_MODE to plan for Safety stock and regular demand in a single CTM. parameter SSTOCK_EARLYFRAME is also used, value of this set to the highest lead time from Plant to reach DC.

From above, theortically we dont see any flaws in production. But reality is, CTM recommends production way before than it is actually demanded for. i.e. production is recommended in a lumpsum quantity to fulfill the demands for next 3-4 months which is not required. To meet our business needs, receipts are to be recommended when there is actual requirement.

Pls update with your thoughts....thanks soo much for looking at it.
