Hi.

<i>Why do we need NDS?</i>

NWDS is the IDE in which is used to create development objects in java. Sort of like SE80 on the ABAP side. You develop your java applications, such as Web Dynpro Java Component and deploy to your Netweaver Java Engine.

<i>What are the Versions available in NDS.?</i>

Each release level of the engine has its own NWDS version/release level. You should always have the same NWDS version/SP level which the java engine has.

<i>On what OS we can Install it.? After installation what are the Step we take.?</i>

For sure, you can install it on windows, I believe there may also be a linix version as well. Once installed, simply click the icon, and start developing.

<i>As an Admin want are the responsibilites we should involved in.?</i>

As far as NWDS is concerned, it runs on your local machine, you should be in touch with your Netweaver Administrator in regards to the java engine which you should be testing against as well as the production java engine which will need to deploy to eventually.

<i>How do we link the NDS with landscapes and how to configure Transport?</i>

SAP has delivered tools to help with the transporting of development objects thru the landscape. See this link for the tools.

I do not have yahoo messenger, and its better to discuss it here, so that it may benefit others. Ask away.

Ok, I created a J2EE project with .jar and .war and also archieved it to .Ear everything was perfect till this moment, however when i try to deploy to J2EE engine the deployment is getting aborted and i get the following error:

Mar 7, 2007 12:35:50 PM /userOut/deploy (com.sap.ide.eclipse.sdm.threading.DeployThreadManager) [Thread[Deploy Thread,5,main]] ERROR:

[003]Deployment aborted

Deployment exception : Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !

I have installed the NDS on SRM server and its up and running and the J2EE process tables are also fine, then what could be the problem.

And want happens once its succesfully Deployed in J2EE engine, do we need to transport it to QUA server and so..

Anyhow this is a trial that am giving without knowing what exactly our task in NDS, cuz as i created a small project of calculator using .xml, .jar, .war and etc. This is completly a developing stage which actually not a basis admin role i think. I developed, Build and deploy, what we do once its deployed.

Ok lets me it short actually who create componets on NDS is it Basis guy.? if not what we do from installation and after installation, if they are the one who develop, build and deploy then what we are doing with that Tool. And i really need an information about Transporting the componets from NDS tool.

I hope i'll not jus get an answer for the last question "transport", expecting the complete information about the problems i've facing.

Suri Tyson

As to your problem with deployment, it seems that SDM is either not running on your server, or you have not provided the proper credentials. Make sure that SDM is running on that server. Or you do not have the J2ee engine specified in your preferences within NWDS.

Also, really you should have NWDS installed on your laptop to develop locally and deploy to the remote server.

Hey thanks, i checked it and found that my work process are running fine in SRM server and the message and equeue server are in green color, Dispatcher is also running but the colour is yellow cuz the status shows as " Running, message server connection is ok, J2EE status info unavailable". However when i check the J2EE process Table it tells that there are no items to show in this view.

am pasting my dev_disp file here:
