Error in refresh structure in Universe Designer

Hello Experts ,

I am facing an issue in Universe designer in SAP BO XI 3.1.Below is the scenario.

I want to add an object to a universe as a part of additional requirement from client. I have added that object in rows tab of BEx query.Then I saved that query and closed query designer.When I refresh structure in Universe designer , all the objects are getting hidden.As a result I may have to create an entirely new universe just to add 1 new object .Can anybody help me here ?

Hi Can,

I was unable to resolve this issue by any of the suggested solution. I did create a new universe to include a single object. 

One of my collegue also suggested me that it was because of large number of objects involved in query. But I cannot reduce the number of objects due to requirement.

It was a limitation of the tool at the time from what I remember.

I've refused to work on an XI3.1 over Bex project ever since.

Hi mandar,

If you want to avoid refresh structure and the associated issue, you can create a new universe on the updated Bex query, once that objects and classes are generated, Copy the object that you require from this new copy of universe into the old one by importing the old universe from separate universe window.

Export the actual old universe with new object changes to access it from webi

Note: you don't have to export the new copy of universe generated.

Hi Mandar,

follow the steps for refreshing the universe structure.

Open the desired universe

Goto view option in menu bar and select refresh universe structure

Update Olap universe wizard appears n click OK

save n export the universe to repository.

What happens when you refresh report?. do you see the newly added characteristic?.

Did you check all the options while refreshing the structure?.
