NwSapSetup was not able to grant you administrator rights

Hello

I have configured a Windows Server 2012 machine with SAP Installation Server Administrator Tool v 9.0.35.0 (which I believe is the most recent version, can someone confirm please?).

I have followed the user guide, configured the share, LSH service, made sure services are running etc. yet I still get this error on most clients when they try run SapGuiSetup.exe

Please can someone help. I've always had trouble with this tool, specifically the LSH service, it is very VERY temperamental in my experience.

Kind regards,

James

Hello James,

Yes SAP SETUP level 35 is the most recent. See note 1587566

If you are facing issues with the LSH service, I suggest you go through note 593486 first.

If this does not help, you can look for the NwSapSetupDs*.log file located in the

%PROGRAMFILES%\SAP\SapSetup\ folder of your installation server. It should provide you some indication on what goes wrong... you can share with us?

Hi Eric,

I have been through that note before but it didn't help my problem.

The logs suggest an inability to query the local groups on the client. I have made sure the RPC and remote registry services are running on both client and server. The LSH account is admin on both too:

hi James,

As per suggestion of Eric, Please download the required patches from following link and apply. hopefully, issue will be resolved.

http://service.sap.com/sltoolset -> Software Logistics Toolset 1.0 -> download SAPSETUP 9.0 -> Support Package Patches -> Windows Server

SAPSETUPP90SP00_0_WUS.exe (patch for SapSetup, SAP AWUS, SapStart)

This patch contains SapSetup and AWUS. It is for all scenarios that include the Automatic Workstation Update Service.

The first two downloads are Patch Executable that can be applied to your installation server withNwSapSetupAdmin.exe (-> apply patch).

Hi Eric,

The file share is on a Windows Server, so I don't think that note is applicable.
