We have some transactions that access the variant config which run very slow. I would like to move these variant config tables onto some faster drives because when looking at st03 the database seems to be the bottleneck. We are running SQL 2000 I understand that a way to do this is using file groups in SQL 2000. I could move those variant tables into another file group onto faster drives which should solve the speed issues.
Hello,
using filegroups other than the primary filegroup is not supported for an R3 system. If you sure that the IO is the problem, moving away a handful of tables will not solve the problem. You should move the complete database onto a faster IO subsystem to solve the problem.
