Dear Experts

  1) Is it possible to run the current ERP6.0 systems over SAP HANA?. If yes what about all the custom configuration, tables, BADI's and so on.

  2) How the transaction will look like or same SAP standard transactions will appear?

  3) Third party integration is possible? Because lots of Inbound IDOC is coming to SAP how to handles all these?

Regards

Hi Vijay,

1. It is possible to run ERP6.0 on HANA however it has to be EHP6 and up only. At present only NW7.30 and up are supported on HANA, and only EHP6 and up will have NW7.30 and up. As for custom config and BADI's there should be no changes. As for tables, HANA supports column store as well as row store. So there would be some changes to SE11/SE80 to enable creating column store tables and maintenance for such tables.

2. ERP6.0 is an application layer while HANA is a database. ERP6.0 will function the same way it does on HANA as it does on a Oracle/SQL Server or any other database. The way the application server communicates with the database will be different, however the basic functions of ERP6.0 will remain unchanged - in short all transactions you get with ERP6 EHP6 will function the same way.

3. Same answer as 2. If the idocs are reaching the application server, then it doesn't matter what the underlying database is.

I would recommend you to take a look at service.sap.com/pam. You can also take a look at the erp on hana cookbook for further information.

If you have an existing ERP system on say oracle database for example, and want to shift it to run on HANA. Then you may have to perform an upgrade to bring it EHP6 and then perform a heterogenous migration to shift from oracle to HANA.

Thanks,

Sharan

It's true that the existing transactions and screen will still work after the upgrade and migration to ERP on HANA, you should also know that there are new transactions and business functions which are available too that take advantage of the power of SAP HANA.

See SAP note 1761546 for an overview of the Optimizations.
