Alerting server and Alert frame work setup for EM

Hi Experts,

Could you please help me understand Alert framework and Alert server associated with SAP EM, mentioned in the following link. Does they mean that Alert framework is a part of Alert server?

From further reading I came to know that alert server/alert framework is a part of SAP web application server , Its just that SAP EM requires PI and PIBASIS plugin before it can be  used as alert server. So what I understand that I need to  I install a SAP Netweaver (for example SAP EM) and upload PI and PIBASIS plugin on it , I don’t need to download another SAP software and install it separately in a separate server in order to use the Alerting features for my SAP EM application . Also another separate SAP  license and hardware specifically for alert server/alert framework is not required since I have SAP EM. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong??

Hello Syam,

if you have a SAP EM system you don't need anything else.

It already contains PI_BASIS and SAP_BASIS.

Alert Framework is part of Netweaver(SAP_BASIS).

You don't need a special license if you have an EM license.
