request window prompt when save the alert category

Hi Experts,

When I am creating a new alert category using Tcode ALRTCATDEF and trying to save it .A prompt-message is displayed as “prompt for customizing request". What is the request for? Where can i see the request and how to create this request?

Anyone knows how to save the new alert category?

Alert Categories are transportable changes.  This allows you to create your alert categories in your development system and promote or transport them to your other systems in your landscape.  That prompt that you are seeing is to create a customizing transport request. 

If you want to create a new request click the page button.

In the next windows put in a description.  Depending on your system configuration you may need to fill in the target system field.  Click the save button.

The next window will now show your new transport request.  Click the green check mark to save your new alert category to the transport you've just created.

Hi Ally,

Just follow the method as tony explained above. this is used to transport your development to other environments.

after this you can be able to crate the alerts category.

once you are done creating and saved the category you can test it with created alert rules.

Again modifying alert category and saving the changes you have to do the same.

In addition to above posts, on transport requests, it is for migrating your configuration changes to downstream ( QA, prod etc ) systems.

You can display the transport in transaction SE10 on ABAP stack and release it from there once changes are ready to be moved.
