Difference between SAP Netweaver and SAP ERP 6.0

1.Can you please tell me the difference between SAP Netweaver and SAP ERP 6.0

2.Does all ERP components run under SAP Netweaver

3.How we can change SAP ERP 6.0 into SAP Netweaver

4. We want to implement 3rd party software & its requirement is SAP Netweaver but we have implemented SAP ERP 6.0 in our oraganisation ? So what we have to do now?

Hi,

1) SAP Netweaver is a underlying platform (Technology)

    SAP ERP is a Product (Solution) running on the Netweaver Platform.

2) ERP 6.0 is Based on SAP Netweaver 7.0

    ERP 6.0 EHP1 is Based on SAP Netweaver 7.0

    ERP 6.0 EHP2 is Based on SAP Netweaver 7.0

    ERP 6.0 EHP3 is Based on SAP Netweaver 7.0

    ERP 6.0 EHP4 is Based on SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP1

    ERP 6.0 EHP5 is Based on SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP2

    ERP 6.0 EHP6 is Based on SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP3

So Based on the above, you can actually check in your System's SPAM, if your system is ERP 6.0, which is based on SAP Netweaver 7.0, your components such as BASIS, ABAP must be of release 700. Hope that you got the point now.

3) You do not have to change anything. ERP 6.0 runs on top of SAP Netweaver 7.0

4) Based on the above Matrix, you should be able to figure out if you can Install Add-on on your ERP system, if it is supported by the underlying Netweaver Platform.

Hi Samuli,

Thanks for bringing this to my knowledge, I wasn't aware that this is also against the Rules of Engagement.

I observed this by many other SCN member's so want sure if this is against the ROE.

Actually I was closing on the next Reputation level, so didn't quite think of it.

However, I will refrain myself in future.

In reality, what you need to do is refer to the PAM or product availability matrix.  Using this SAP tool, you can find what is compatible with what.  For the most part, the answer is yes to your question, but without referring to this guide, you cannot be sure.  There are always exceptions and notes you need to refer to.  It also takes some interpretation to be 100% sure.
