Does archiving an MDM Repository includes the data from the Tables?

Hi All,

From SAP MDM perspective, does the term "Archiving" means full database backup?

Does the data from the tables also included or just the underlying structure/schema of the whole MDM repository?

Many thanks for your answers : )

Hi,

Yes, Archiving repository will include data from tables as well. But if you wish to extract just schema, click on Transport repository schema.

Hi Erwin,

As already mentioned it does contain complete data.

So when one takes an archive of repository it means one takes a complete replica of the repository and can use that in other or same environment. It has no constraints like non-transport of nested validations etc which schema migration has.

Thanks,

Ravi

Yes archiving will include all the data present in mdm with the repository structure. The archived file will be saved by the following extension. "Repo Name.a2a". You can check the same by unarchiving it in different environment.
