SAP PI 7.3.1 Upgrade!

Hi,

Our current PI system in PI7.1.1 SP05.

We are thinking of upgrading the system to the latest version of PI 7.3.1 (Dual Stack).  With respect to these, please clarify the following questions.

1. Will it be a upgrade or migration? i.e do we need fresh installation of 7.3.1 or can just apply the upgrade directly to the existing 7.1.1.

2. Does 7.3.1 comes with built in CTS+ and also supports file based transport mechanism? In our current 7.1.1 we don't have any CTS ?

3. Since our SP is 05 in 7.1.1, do we have any dependancies of SP for installation of 7.3.1.?

4. I am aware that solman also comes with part of 7.3.1. Is it mandatory to have central monitoring using solman or can i just use PI as normal monitoring?

Also as it comes with netweaver 7.3, should i be worrying about any other dependencies on the r/3 side as we have ECC 6.

It should be a upgrade.

It does not. Additional configuration is required.

It is not mandatory to have central monitoring. You can use normal PI monitoring.

there will not be any issue. you can check below on the same.

Since you are going for dual stack you can directly upgrade 7.11 to 7.31. No fresh installation is required.in our current project also we directly upgraded to 7.31 EHP1 sp05.

For transport also no worries. you can use file transport in 7.31. still if you want CTS+, you can configure.

if you are not convinced with this you(Basis) can raise message to SAP which we did for checking MDM PI adapter compatibility . They can help you on this.

Apply directly on PI 7.1.1 , this is right approach beceuse you are moving to dual stack only,first perform this action on test system in PI then do it in Dev/QA/Prod.

You have to configure CTS+ tranport mechanism thats it,even 7.31 supports file based transports i think.

I dont think so.

You can use PI Monitoring.

If a new PI 7.3 system is available you will move / migrate your IR/ID objects.

No, we have to do the configurations to use it.

No, install the latest one.

That is up to you. its not mandatory.

Please note that we are already in 7.11 and will be moving to 7.3.1
