Technical Monitoring - Custom Metric for JMX does not work

Former Member

Hi,

I use the Solution Manager 7.1 SPS 6.

I have implemented a custom template with several custom metrics for

monitoring a Netweaver 7.3.1 system.

Access to Metrics in JMX subtree does not work. A view to Introscope

investigator shows that the metrics are active and the values change

over

time. The custom metric "JMX4" (see attached screenshot) works fine.

Custom Metric "JMX5" is very similar, only goes to another path but

does

not work (state is unknown/grey also after waiting for a long time

and/or

restarting netweaver system).

Is their any issue with the path or is it the wrong data provider? I

didn't find documentation about usage of the correct data provider.

The Metric "ECo Home Made Metric" also does not work. The JMX-Metric is

in the same subtree as "JMX5". This Metric is customer application

specific, it is also looking fine in Introscope Investigator but stays

grey in the system monitoring view.

Regards.

Jan

hi Jan,

Are you sure the regular expression you use is correct?

It seems very different when I compare JMX4 and JMX5

Hi David,

They have to be different because the metrics are in different subtrees under the JMX-node.

I added 2 more screenshots from Introscode Investigator to show the paths to the metrics.

Hi Jan,

Do you have any errors in extractor framework or smd agent logging?

Also, what kind of threshold did you apply?

There might be some difference there, since it's calculating something different.

Hi David,

There are no errors in the extractor framework or in the smd agent logging within the relevant period.

Thresholds are set to "info only" in for all custom metrics.
