APYSIDKRN finishes but patch level not changed

Dears,

We are about to install SAP BW NW 7.3  on  IBM Power System i, V7R1

In the steps of applying EhP1, it was required to update the patch level of the two kernel commands : tp  &  r3trans

APYSIDKRN finishes successfully for both trials, but the patch level does not change.

Please find attached the log for the two trials.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Hello Reda,

Based on your R3trans log file you seem to be implementing the UC R3trans in a NUC / double stack system. Consider using R3trans_421-20006778.SAR file. I'm assuming that your other issue is probably similar.

Hi Reda,

Yannick is on the right track, I guess. APYSIDKRN will copy the version you supply to the matching location. See the following entries of your log files:

tp:

Copied 'tp' to '/sapmnt/MBD/exe/nuc/as400_pase_64'

...
In the current program environment patch tp (in Unicode directory - level 410 or higher) is recommended (your current level is 324).

R3trans:

Copied 'R3trans' to '/sapmnt/MBD/exe/nuc/as400_pase_64'

Compare this with where you check the versions of R3trans and tp and where your system looks them up (see DIR_EXECUTABLE in your profiles).

Thank you all for your cooperation.

The cause of the problem turned out to be that I mistakenly downloaded the non-unicode patches, instead of the unicode ones.

for relevant steps for Kernel update.
