mmc.exe does not take any CPU to open the SAP Management Console

Hi,

I cannot start SAP Management Console any more.

When I start the SAP Management Console, I can see the mmc.exe process in the task manager window. But the mmc.exe process does not take any CPU so that the console does not start. The 'System Idle Process' takes 99% of the CPU.

I am hosting an ERP and Solution Manager on an amazon EC2 instance (Windows Server 2008 R2 Host: 64 bit, 15 GB RAM, 8 ECUs, m1.xlarge).

The ERP and Solution Manager system as well as the console were working fine yesterday. After I shut down the SAP systems and stopped the EC2 instance, I took a new snapshot. After the snapshot was completed, I started the EC2 instance and since then I cannot start the console at all.

I have restarted the amazon instance as well as using the window re-start option.

Any other suggestions?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

So SAP is running ?

If Yes

go to Task Manager and kill all runing processes of the Console and try to open it again

if No

I have had this issue before what hellped for was that the executable was corrupted and i had to recopy it.

Replace sapstartsrv.exe and sapstart.exe and retry

Hi Andreas,

Also check if your relevant windows MMC service is running.

Also check SAPservice<SID> service is running or not
