Hi,

It could be due to content of DIR_PUT and/or DIR_TRANS cannot be accessed.

Please ensure it can you access the content using al11 .

Please check report RSTPTEST .

And provide the job log.

Hi,

It's showing OK status. There is no error in this. Could you please suggest how to execute

R3up set stdpar to reset the upgrade as it is showing following dump :-

System Response

The upgrade stops in phase BATCHCHK.

Procedure

Check the following causes and correct the error:

  • No write authorization to the subdirectories of the upgrade directory (subdirectories bin, log, tmp, ...)
  • No freespace in the upgrade directory
  • The upgrade directory cannot be reached from the batch host specified
Create a mount to the directory. If the batch host was entered incorrectly, correct it by calling R3up set stdpar.

Nilutpal

Hi Jain,

Thanks a lot for your help.

The error has gone after recreating SUM directory by extarting SUM.sar file under /usr/sap/SID. After recreation, I have executed SUMSTART.BAT under /usr/sap/SID/SUM/abap and then started sapup under bin directory.

It has cleared the issue which lead to successful execution of RSUPGRES .

Nilutpal.

Hi Nilutpal

Could you please explain exactly what you have done? I have followed your steps, SUMSTART.BAT does nothing, 'sapup set stdpar' just results in sapup waiting for a connection.

RSUPGRES also results in the log writer error, which occured after a systemcopy in the target system in transaction SAINT.

R3Up is not an option.

Thanks in advance

Hi Loohuizen,

Once you start SUMSTART.BAT file from command prompt (Run as Administrator), it starts connection to SAP UP. it will give you following message:-

Starting SAPup (E:\usr\sap\SID\SUM\abap\bin\SAPup.exe rootdir=E:\usr\sap\SID\SUM

\abap\ gt=httpchannel)...

Then you start SAPup.exe file by giving root directory as shown in command prompt after execution of SUMSTART.BAT file. I guess it should clear your issue.

Nilutpal.

Hello Nilutpal,

Thanks for the reply, it's much appreciated. However, I think something else is the case.. SUMSTART briefly popups another window which I can't read. Sapup with these settings returns nothing.
Probably because SUM has never been started on this machine. I'll keep looking

Please run the above report "RSUPGRES" in 000 client with DDIC credentials, as initially the sum takes the credentials of 000 client with DDIC username & password
