SRM Auction using ABAP Server - Please reponse, clarifications required

Hello Guys

A small clarification in SRM auction using ABAP server which is possible using SRM 7 with Ehp1.

Here what I have understood is no need to install java WAS. However, when we click the live auction button in auction applet  in portal. A java application pop ups.

Some clarification’s below,

1.       Any light on the configurations required to call this java application. Do we need to build the logical system, RFC etc to call this application?

2.       Where is this pop up java application (live auction cockpit) installed or available or called, in abap server or portal.

3.       At last, need to know how to trigger a mail to the contact persons of the suppliers once the live action / bidding is published.

Please light your knowledge on this. Thank you so much in advance.

hi,

first, make sure you have the customizing switch SRM_701_LIVE_AUCTION_ABAP active.

As soon as you publish the Auction, check the output medium in the bidder tab.  Ensure it is successfully processed, and the bidders each have a contact person, with a valid email address.  The email should be sent (seen in SOST) - this is all standard functionality.

When the buyer or bidder click the "live auction" button, you are right, a java applet loads -this requires java software on your own local web browser.  Ensure you have the latest java client installed on your computer.  Go to http://www.java.com/en/ to download it and ensure you install it, and close the browser, and relaunch browser before trying to use the live auction.  After this is done, the Live auction screen should successfully load.

Also ensure you have activated service "sap/LACMESSAGING" in SICF.

From a security perspective, the buyer should have the strategic purchasing role and the bidder should have the bidder role.

Hello Santosh,

If there is SRM 7.01 installed than you can enable the Live Auction on ABAP Server. This means, that Java is not needed to be installed on server. Java runtime is only needed on endusers computer (-> Create a Live Auction -> Invite Bidders. The bidder has to have Java installed on his/her computer.

For configuration please go through the documentation in Solution Manager and go to https://service.sap.com/instguides and Select SAP SRM -> SRM 7.01.
