What are the pre-requisites required to learn SAP HANA

Dear HANA experts,

Can any one tel me what are the pre-requisties required to learn SAP HANA.

I am posting this question on behalf of my friend request, he is having working experience in Oracle

Hi Ravi,

If your friend knows Oracle then he must be familiar with SQL so it will be a big plus for him if he wants to learn HANA as SQL is also used a lot in HANA

It is better if you know In Memory concepts and Column Storage concepts

If anyone knows SAP BI then its very good as he will be able to Model Views easily.

In addition to the above points. You should be well versed with SQL, SQL procedures and understand the basic difference between a relational reporting backend and a BI multi-dimensional reporting.

I'm already enrolled on "In-memory Database Management" by openHPI, that will begin next August 26. I know a colleague who did this course based on HANA technology and he has not any kind of knowledge about this. I strongly recommend do it!

Do you mean HANA Administration or development.

I development, you need to know the database concepts etc

If administration, it is good to know BASIS administration of other SAP systems, which will help you understand HANA better, but as per my knowledge, it is not a pre-requisite
