Run RS_BW_POST_MIGRATION a few months later?

Former Member

Hello,

We performed a system copy of BW system some months ago.

The system copy ended successfully and the target system is up and running.

But we forgot to execute report RS_BW_POST_MIGRATION in the migrated system immediately after migration.

Does it make sense to run the report now? Do it cause any harm the system?

In future we will plan to make system copy from this system as well.

Thank you very much.

Hi Igor,

What database is the system?

In report RS_BW_POST_MIGRATION, wrong distribution keys of

InfoCube fact tables, DataStore object tables, or PSA tables are

detected. It then attempts to repair any wrong distribution keys it finds.

The RS_BW_POST_MIGRATION program carries out necessary adjustments after

the system copy. When it does this, the system adjusts database-specific

DDIC entries (modified, deleted, expanded), it invalidates database-

specific (generated) programs, it deletes temporary objects from certain

LRU buffers, it transfers new versions for the PSA tables and it adjusts

table DBDIFF. The runtime of the program may be a few hours.

You can run it now, just be aware that will likely cuase some performance impact so its best to run during window of low system usage.

regards,

Paul

Hi,

thank you very much Paul.

Our database is DB2/390.

So it follows that this report acts in the same as such tool RSRV and report SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES?
