Hello Experts,
Recently I done ABAP Stack upgrade using SUM. I have a question that which user SUM used for applying the Support Packages in SUM. I have given only DDIC and SYSTEM password during upgrade.
Thanks in advance for answer.
Regards,
Gajanan
Hi Gajanan,
When you use SUM to apply support patches or apply directly using SPAM, it always uses the DDIC user, as there will be some changes to data dictionary or table structure or insert statement, as we all, only user having access key will be able to change repository. I believe it always uses DDIC (that's the reason we need to provide DDIC user name and password)
where as for running SUM, it uses the SIDADM user.
Let's wait for our experts view on this.

Hi Ranjith,
Thanks for reply. Traditionally I create a Copy of SAP* to another user and use for Support Pack upgrade. So my query is internally is SUM create any user or the upgrade is performed with DDIC.
