Dear All,
I am facing issues in ECC 6.0 EHP6 upgrade from ECC 6.0 through SUM tool.
Tried few things but still issue persists:
Error: Initialization of incremental conversion failed, requirements failed
" RFC Login failed" in ICNVINIT.log
Shadow instance can not be connected anymore. Reason is : At this time of the procedure, the shadow instance does not exist anymore since you are passed phase STOP_SHDI_*!
Hence RFC will not work
Other the above mentioned, there are no errors mentioned in log files.
Please guide on resolving this issue.

Deeraj Shetty
Dear Team,
As per SAP, to avoid similar situation during EHP6 upgrade below mentioned note needs to be referred:
24864 No conversion of the table BSEG
Refer to this note:
---------------------------Do not convert the table BSEG ----------------------------------
If possible, avoid all of the modifications mentioned above and do NOT
decide to return to the standard SAP system during the SPDD run. If you notice a
conversion (for example, in the test system), determine the reason for the conversion
before you make the relevant changes in the productive systems.
------------------------Hope this information helps ---------------------------------------
Since we had reset BSEG table to standard during SPDD, faced lot of issues. Later restored complete system and started upgrade again.
We were able to achieve downtime of 3 hrs 13 minutes :):).
Thanks for all the support.

Hi Deeraj,
I'm a little confused as to your original post:
Shadow instance can not be connected anymore. Reason is : At this time of the procedure, the shadow instance does not exist anymore since you are passed phase STOP_SHDI_*!
Hence RFC will not work
I'm performing exactly the same EHP at the moment and have just checked the Phase List - SUM/abap/htdoc/phaselist.xml. It appears to me that the phase "ICNVINIT" comes in Module Shadow Import. Thus the Shadow System should be available. If it's not running, can you re-started the shadow?
Perhaps I'm confused though and you are at a different phase.

Graham

Hi Graham,
Yes I do agree that phase ICNVINIT belongs to module Shadow import. When I tried to start shadow manually, below message is displayed:
"At this time of the procedure, the shadow instance does not exist anymore since you are passed phase STOP_SHDI_*! "
In phase ICNVINIT : System checks the volumes of the candidates and initializes successful candidates.
Please let me know if there is any workaround to fix this issue.

Hi Deeraj,
There is always a way to skip round the error, but as you are in pre-processing stage you might want to consider re-initializing the step and see if it happens on the second time through. That will take some time though...
Did you complete all the pre-stes before starting the upgrade? Not doing so often leads to issues.

Graham
Hi Deeraj,
Are you using the latest SUM ,please use the latest SUM tool
Also check SAP Note No. 1732061 for more info.
Please open a message to sap as well.

Hi Atul,
Yes we are using the latest SUM tool. We have raised OSS as well.
But even in log files, we are unable to find any useful information.
Checked under "ICNV" tcode and there aren't any tables specified for conversion.
Please let me know if any area I need to look into to fix this issue.

Hi,
Attach DDICCNV.LOG. Can you log in to shadow instance?
Did you get errors at previous phases?
Cheers

Hi Sargan,
Yes we have faced few errors, but all were fixed.
Shadow instance is not available any more as Shadow_Instance_Stop phase has been passed already. Hence manual starting of shadow instance is not possible either.
Please find the relevant logs attached.
