NW700 Non Unicode System Copy

Former Member

Hi,

I try to perform a system copy of a non unicode NW700 installation on Win2003.

For this new installation I try to use SWPM 1.0 SP1 NW7.0x.

At the beginning I get the option, to disable Unicode.

But when SWPM aks for th Kernel, I give the pathe to 7.20 NUC (DVD 51045931_3), which I just downloaded from SAP.

But I get the error:

     You entered:  (see above)

     FOUND label SAP:AKK:720:DVD_Kernel:SAP Kernel 720

     BUT NEEDE THE label SAP:AKK:72:UKERNEL:*:Windows_x86_64:*

Does anybody now, how to get a freshly installed non unicode system copy?

Thanks

Hi Johannes,

There is a workaround.

Hope you have Unicode kernel DVD for the installation. Just replace the SAPEXEDB.SAR and SAPEXE.SAR files in the Unicode Kernel DVD with non-Unicode Kernel SAR files.

During installation provide path of Unicode Kernel DVD.

It will work.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks a lot.

Its really, that you have to built your own "Installation DVD" for the Kernel,

and ther the tool expects th Unicode-Part as well.

Why this is neede for a NUC installation, only SAP knows (if at all...)

Hi

Yes, its ture. I had to build a kernel DVD by myself by copying from 2 or 3 different Kernel DVDs when I was upgrading EHP for a JAVA stck .

There was a SAP Note for this as well , may be you will find a NOte for your installation as well.

Hi Johannes,

This is a problem due to incorrect master DVD as the sapinst looks for the correct version of the LABEL.ASC file as it determines the correction version of the DVD required by reading this file.

But when SWPM aks for the Kernel, I give the path to 7.20 NUC (DVD 51045931_3)

You entered:  (see above)

     FOUND label SAP:AKK:720:DVD_Kernel:SAP Kernel 720

     BUT NEEDE THE label SAP:AKK:72:UKERNEL:*:Windows_x86_64:*

Refer to SAP note Note 1553301 - 7.20 EXT Kernel - Usage section 2 tells you how to select correction version.

As Deepak stated workaround is that to replace the files refer to note section 1 obtaining the kernel.

Obtaining the 7.20 EXT Kernel

Download the latest 7.20 EXT kernel stack for your operating system and database from SAP Service Marketplace.

For Windows and UNIX/Linux platforms and IBM i, the 7.20 EXT kernel stack consists of the database-independent SAPEXE.SAR and the database-dependent SAPEXEDB.SAR archives.

Download the latest support package for the IGS from the SAP IGS 7.20 EXT branch. The package constists of the IGSEXE.SAR and the IGSHELPER.SAR archives.

If you are using SAPCRYPTOLIB, download the EXT version of the corresponding archive in accordance with SAP Note 397175.

For Oracle, you also need the archive DBATOOLS.SAR

To implement the kernel refer to section 1 b. On Windows.

Good luck and regards,

Johan
