Install of 4.6c on Win 2003 fails

Former Member

I'm trying to install 4.6c on Windows 2003 / SQL 2000, so that I can migrate a system to new hardware.

I'm using SQL 2000 Tools CD to run setup.bat from the NT folder and it fails right after I give a sid name - DEV - and the version I'm installing - 4.6C.

Error message from the CDINST.log is shown below.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Lyell ,

I was successfully installed 4.6c on win2003 with oracle8.0, but I got errors when checked post installation check T-code SICK. so I think its not recommended to install on win2003.

If you read my original post, I'm trying to install MS SQL, NOT Oracle.

i was responding to pulla rao k's post...not to yours! ("<i>in response to: pulla rao k</i>")

<b>SAPCAR: no archives specified for extracting (error 29). There are no more files</b>

so, where are the files? did you check?

yeah, that's also my thought.

The Kernel CD is not the original one or has been modified manually.

can you give us the contents of label.asc in the root directory of the kernel cd?

I believe I solved this myself.

I removed the spaces from the directory name and now it seems OK.
