Hi,
We have been connecting to a SFTP server based in china from UK.
We are using aedaptive sftp adapter for this interface. The development server did not have any firewall rules and was pretty fast in writing files.
The test server was implemented with Firewall rules and we noticed that it is quite very slow where writing of 172 files of 40kb size is taking 20-30 minutes.
Do we have any control on this or need to check with the sftp provider. Is there any cause from our side PI side/ Infrastructure etc.,
Regards
Anandh
Hi,
You'll need to get your network / infra team involved but the following may help:
Can you try doing ftp using your own machine and check speed if the ftp site is open to any ip. Alternatively, you will need to do FTP from with in your PI OS ( may ask basis if you don't have access ) and check the performance.
Thanks,
Vikas

Hi Ananda,
This is a network throughput issue related to bandwidth. I think you should facilitate a handshake between your network team and SFTP server provider and see how it goes.

Hi Anandha,
You need to check with Network team as suggested by Baskar & Vikas to enhance the file transfer performance. But usually SFTP is pretty much slower than FTP. In SFTP, you are encrypting, performing hash calculations and buffer copying which are time consuming.

This delay is not related to PI. Please talk to network admin team. They will check slowness across the different domains in the tcp network where the data transfer. Example traceroute command will show where the slowness/delay occurs in the network. Take help from network team.
