Dear Experts,

We are using SAP ECC 6.0 on Oracle10g.  Audit findings says that SYS/SYSTEM has SAP_SYS_PROFILE with null password.  Can We make SYS/SYSTEM password to non null password.  What is the impact if we change password. Any SAP NOTE?

Please suggest....

Thanks

Hi Sumit,

One more additional think to the other friends, SYSTEM user mostly used by the backup applications such as HP Data Protector. You should check the enviroment using this user, also.

Hi orkun,

Audit findings says Profile SAP_SYS_PROFILE has set field LIMIT=NULL for users SYS & sYSTEM.

Profile SAP_PROFILE has set field LIMIT= SAP_PASSWD_CHECK for users SAP<sID>,SAPINTF.

They want us to put LIMIT= SAP_PASSWD_CHECK for users SYS & sYSTEM also.

Please let's know If we change LIMIT= SAP_PASSWD_CHECK for users SYS & sYSTEM, Will it impact application.

Kindly help with SAP note....

Thanks

Hi Sumit,

SYS and SYSTEM users have been set to SAPUPROF profile. It is recommended to set this value, if you don't have any specific issue and avoid unexpected authorization problems.

Hi Sumit,

There is no impact if you change SYS / SYSTEM password as in SAP everything is done with sap schema-id.

Now if you want to change any of these users password, you can use normal oracle level query: alter user SYSTEM identified by <password>;

To change sap schema-id password use brtools only.

Thanks,

  Hi Gaurav,

  1)  SYSTEM user use brtools

   2)  Avoid to change user credentials directly from SQL query.....

By default, sapdba and the BR tools are connected to the database with the SYSTEM user and standard password.

  Thanks

Hi Sumit Jain ,

There won't be any  impact if you are  changing the password of SYS or SYSTEM.
