Can someone tell me how material Group in Material Master is used for pricing...

What is material group in general used for..? Is it just for reporting purpose or is there more to it..

Hi,

Its a key that you use to group together several materials or services with the same attributes, and to assign them to a particular material group.

Use

You can use material groups to:

Restrict the scope of analyses

Search specifically for material master records via search helps

As a FI consultant one place where the Account assignment group for material is used is in SD-FI integration in VKOA t.code. I belive this is assigned to customer master records

Hi Sherin,

Eg,

For servers, you can create one material group,

For printers, you can create another materials group,

For PCs, you can create another material group

It will be usually used for analysis like how much revenue has been earned from servers, printers, PCS for example..

Usually for pricing, we will use the material pricing group which also you can find under the Sales org data.

Material pricing group will drill down sub levels for the individual groups..For eg, Material group can be servers and you can set Material pricing group to High end server, low end server etc..
